THE PORCELAIN COAST

Fujian, China

Keep Me Posted
Hilly landscape with terraced fields, green trees, and uniquely shaped round yellow tulou buildings in Fujian with dark roofs in the foreground, mountains in the background under a partly cloudy sky.
A bowl of shacha seafood noodle soup in Fujian, China with clams, green onions, and chili in a red broth on a wooden table.
A cityscape in Xiamen with the ocean in the foreground, numerous residential buildings with orange roofs on gulangyu, and a skyline of tall modern buildings and skyscrapers in the background.

Trace Fujian's ancient trading routes where artisans developed bodiless lacquerware and blanc de chine, crafts loved all over the world. Head to the Island fishing village Pingtan to discover why now many of the younger generation are moving there to escape the city. Marvel at the historic tulou fortresses in Yongding and taste the coastal flavours shaped by centuries of trade with Southeast Asia.
